We Have Come A Long Way...

We really have come a long way these past couple of months. Not going to lie, I don't really remember what happened in the last 1/2 of June...I think that was the month we spent the most time with Lindsay & Craig! As for July...wow, a lot has happened.

Of course we began the month with the 4th of July! What a wonderful day it was. Zach, Jackson, & I had our very own picnic at a nearby park. Mmmm the food was great and the weather was perfect (ok, maybe a little warm but still wonderful!). We had the pleasure of seeing some early "fireworks"...meaning a can of pop exploded in the bed of a truck we were sitting near. Thankfully no one/thing was hurt or injured, except for maybe the can of pop! Later that evening we decided to let Jackson enjoy his first 4th with real fireworks. Oh my goodness...who thought it would be a great idea to start city fireworks at 10:30pm??? For those who don't live in UT or haven't lived in UT, it was dark by 9-9:30pm. Why couldn't they start the fireworks when it FIRST gets dark? Ok, I know they had the Stadium of Fire thing but still. Argh. At least Jackson was a trooper! Pretty sure he was more patient than Zach and I put together! At the exact moment we decided to leave (2+ hours of waiting for the fireworks to begin) they decided it was the perfect moment to start the firework show. Of course. We did stay for a few minutes and then we promptly left, we were exhausted. Needless to say, Jackson got to see "real" fireworks and fireworks that people were displaying on their own. He loved them! ...or should I say, he saw them, stared at them briefly and then got bored with them. Hahaha...just like his Daddy! Hopefully we will have a much better experience next year, wherever we end up!

July 11, 2012 was a beautiful day! Jackson had the pleasure of "welcoming" his newest lil' cousin Emery into the world(he wasn't actually able to see her in the hospital)! Yippee!!! We have waited a very long time for this little bundle of joy to come! It was so cute to watch Jackson meet Emery for the first time! I don't think he knew what to do! He just kept staring..."mommy, what is that? She looks like me (kind of) but she's not me..." so cute! One day when we were visiting with Emery (Lindsay & Craig) Jackson moved closer to her just staring at her at first and then he decided it was ok to touch her. I love watching him explore and learn new things! We will just have to see how Jackson & Emery react to each other as they continue to grow! Also during some of this time we all had the pleasure of seeing Grandma Kendrick & Aunt Michaela! Jackson has been in the "stranger danger"/"all I want is Mommy" phase. It took him awhile but he eventually warmed up to Mom & Michaela! They seemed to enjoy one another's company and Jackson loved Mom's story she shared with him. I think he really enjoyed the motions and sounds. As with any trip, it ended far too quickly. We can't wait to see you all again!

Jackson's Firsts!
Jackson has been growing extremely fast these past months/weeks/days. It seemed just like yesterday that he would be lying on his belly and get stuck. Now he is quite mobile. He hasn't quite mastered the front crawl but he is beginning to be a pro at the back crawl! It has become second nature for Jackson to get up on all fours now! He hasn't figured out how to move his legs and hands forward but he manages quite well with scooting backwards! We have noticed that he finds something he wants, thinks about it, and then between scooting backwards and rolling he ends up where he wants to be. Oh so mobile! I know it is only going to get "better"! Haha. We are just excited that he is figuring things out! It is so much fun to watch him explore and get into things (even if he shouldn't be getting into some things). In addition to being more mobile Jackson has been sharing with us his cute little personality more and more! He smiles more, laughs more, and even scolds us more when we do something he doesn't like (ie. take him out of the bath)! We love our little man! In my opinion he looks more and more like his Daddy, Zach doesn't really agree though. Oh well!

The time has really flown by these past 6 months. Yes, it really has been 6 months since Jackson graced us with his presence! I wouldn't take back a single day out of those 6 months! Yes, I would keep even the difficult days. To celebrate we found ourselves at Great Grandpa & Grandma Kendrick's! Granted we were there to celebrate a Great Uncle's birthday, it was still fun and entertaining for Jackson! While there Jackson got a taste of his first sno-cone! This boy LOVES flavored ice! He wouldn't let Zach or me eat any. We ended up having to hide all evidence of the sno-cones so he would let us eat some! We have discovered that he will do the same thing with popsicles! The only reason we let him try these in the first place is because he is teething! Yep you read that right. Jackson is now into teething! He has cut his first tooth! The first pearly white to appear was his bottom left front tooth. He did really well with that one. Not too grouchy, still slept, and overall was pretty content. Lately though, boy it has been a struggle. He has gotten cranky, clingy, and won't take his naps. I have to admit, he has gone through a lot this past month: turning 6 months (includes a growth spurt), learning to crawl, teething, & on top of it all we moved, so he has to adjust to a new environment.

We didn't move too far from where we were. It was still a move though. My recommendation to anyone who is considering moving with an infant/toddler...don't do it. Of course it is possible with a bright outcome but it can seem very difficult, stressful, and frustrating. Overall, we moved and that's that.

A couple of days after our big move Jackson had his 6 month checkup. Guess what that means...yep, 6 month immunizations! He had three shots, one in the left leg and two in the right leg. He started out fine, didn't even flinch for the first one, then he started getting squirmy for the second one, and then broke out into tears for the third shot. Don't worry, the tears lasted maybe 2-3 minutes tops. He does really well, usually, when we go to the Dr's. Zach and I had to chuckle at this appointment...as soon as the Dr. walked in Jackson started crying. Hahaha... we don't know what it is but he doesn't like the Dr very much. The entire time Dr. Bailey was performing the wellness check Jackson would move his head back and forth between Zach and I (we were standing on each side of him). I am so happy Jackson feels comfortable with us! That's the way it should be! Zach & I enjoy these checkups because we get to look at the stats and see how Jackson is doing (yes, I know every baby is different and stats may or may not have any affect on how your baby/child is growing). So down to stats... Jackson is in the 81st percent tile for Head Circumference, 61st percent tile for Weight, and a whopping 94th percent tile for Height!!! Our lil' boy is tall! We still joke that if he continues this way for height he better enjoy basketball or football! Overall, Jackson is very healthy and is growing how he should be!

As for Zach & me, we have been keeping busy with work, moving, filling out medical school applications, getting ready for Zach's last semester at college, and oh yes, we opened our very own web store. It can be found here: www.etsy.com/shop/lilcreationsatoz We have decided it would be fun to create little stuffed animals and other baby/children items for those who love things like that! We are still working on the inventory thus we don't have a ton of things up yet. Keep checking though! Since we are done moving we are bound to get more things up now!

Well, that's all for now! Hope you all have a fantastic day/week/month! I am hoping to be more consistent on updating you all but I guess we will all just have to wait and see what happens!

The following is the post I began back in the day but something/one distracted me and I never finished. Not sure if I really like it, I might change some of it (maybe) but for now, here it is...
With Jackson turning 5 months in just a couple of days I can hardly believe where the time has gone. Just the other day Zach and I were celebrating our happy news of finding out we were going to have a little addition to our family! The time really has flown. I am a lot better with pictures/videos than I am with words so here is a collection of pics that should cover some of the more prominent points of our past!
